Daring, seductive, murderous book two

Hello lovelies,

This month is full of so many books. I have been reading like an absolute maniac, and I’m not sorry about it! This month's book challenge was Foxglove, the second book of Adalyn Grace’s series, Belladonna being the first one. Belladonna was such an amazing book, and if you are interested in getting into this series, my review for the first book is up on this blog. Belladonna is a gothic romance and mystery novel and I highly recommend it. Foxglove is the highly anticipated second novel in the series, where the mystery continues. In the first book, the main character, Signa, is out to solve the murder of a relative, all while being surrounded by Death and trying to save her cousin from a similar Fate. (all puns intended) In the second novel, we get the introduction of a new character, just as exciting as Death, his brother Fate. We also get the addition of new POVs. I love books with multiple points of view. I believe it helps open the plot up for the reader and helps us determine the narrator's reliability. Too often, in mystery novels, we only have a narrow point of view, making it harder to understand the true nature of the mystery. With this book, the added perspective makes it easier to discern the world around Signa and adds depth to the mystery. With the added perspective also comes added love interests. I found this to be very enjoyable as we saw characters from the first book embark on their own journeys. I love it when authors do this. The expansion of the world is always enjoyable when you get to meet new characters and see new parts of the world the other book(s) never touched on. It felt like a warm hug to me, staying in a world I enjoyed so much. The third book will be released sometime this year; be prepared for the review because it will happen.

NOW ONTO SPOILERS

I loved getting to see Blythe's character grow in this book. In the first book, we obviously see Signa hiding a lot from Blythe, her cousin, to protect and save her from her brother, who's trying to poison her. Blythe is kept in the dark about all of these bad actions and the magic surrounding her, whereas in this book, we get an in-depth look at Blythe's thinking as one of the multiple perspectives that we get is hers. Watching her character's art and growth in this book was extremely satisfying. Blythe is a very likable character with a snarky personality that I personally really enjoy reading. Reading about her starting to understand everything we, as their leader, have been seeing over the last book was really intriguing. She didn't react in the way that I thought she would do the magic, given that her character is very strong-willed, but I liked and enjoyed watching her struggle and learn from it. I'm very excited to see where the next book brings us in the story with Blythe and Fate, as well as with Signa and Death. Moving forward, I predict that Blythe, like Signa, has magic or access to the other realm that both Death and Fate reside in. I want to know whether or not Signa is the person that these two magical men have been searching for, or perhaps there's another answer. There are so many questions yet to be answered, but there are so many amazing memories in this book that he can't wait to relive and dive back into with the release of the third novel.

Let me know what you guys think of this series and if you enjoy it as much as I do; also, check out other books by Adalyn Grace because about six months ago, I read the All the Stars and Teeth series, and it was amazing. If you're into sexy pirates, magic, and warfare, it's a book series for you. Happy reading!
